If you feel you cannot make your loan payment on time, contact your lender right away. Payday loans can be very affordable, but only when you use them as set up in the beginning. Here is what could happen if you are unable to make a payment.
- You obtain a loan and agree to pay it off in full within two weeks, including the $20 fee for borrowing the funds. (This is just an example.)
- The lender lends you the money and you use it as you need to.
- During that two week period, something comes up and you do not believe you can make the payment in full on time. You contact the lender.
- The lender suggests rolling the loan over for another two weeks to give you more time to pay for it. However, you now need to pay a higher fee for doing this. For another two weeks, it could be another $20, depending on the terms of the contract.
Read the contract provided to you by the lender before you agree to any type of loan. Payday loans can be affordable, but the more times you roll them over, the harder they get to repay. Not only are you paying twice the fee but you also have to pay it all on your next paycheck. This makes it twice as hard to repay.
Before you obtain payday loans, make sure you can afford to pay them back. If this is a problem, contact the lender as soon as possible and work out a solution. The worst thing you can do is to do nothing about it. Keep in mind that individuals will need to plan for using payday loans wisely. Avoid taking out too many of them so you can avoid getting caught in this dangerous financial loop.
